The Ultra 3 closed the two gaps the Ultra 2 left open. Satellite is built into the watch — Emergency SOS, Messages, and Find My all work with no iPhone in range, which is the first time an Apple Watch has been genuinely self-sufficient somewhere remote. And battery goes from 36 hours to 42, with 14 of those available as a full-GPS workout. The 49mm titanium case carries the largest display Apple has shipped, running LTPO3 for a 1Hz always-on refresh at up to 3000 nits, over dual-frequency GPS — a panel the Ultra 4 keeps unchanged. Hypertension and sleep apnea notifications are included. Superseded by the Ultra 4 in September 2026, which stretches battery to 50 hours and adds five-second heart rate and Readiness.
